The Vit-E-Men Co. have been in the livestock minerals for 40+ years is dedicated to helping producers efficiently help produce livestock.
What are they?
Livestock minerals are elements that are essential for life. Chelated minerals are trace minerals that have attached to an organic compound. Research shows that Amino Acid Chelated metals are the most available, best absorbed and most retained of all the mineral forms on the market including complexes and sulfate forms. The specific amino acid used to form the chelate also impacts absorption and retention.
Why do I need them?
All classes of animals need minerals for hormone productions, enzyme activity, vitamin synthesis, tissue synthesis, oxygen transport, energy production, and collagen formation. There isn’t enough mineral in grain-based rations or forages to keep up with the demands placed on the livestock today. Some may think they can just feed more of the regular inorganic mineral to make up for the lack of mineral in the diet. However this does not work, this doubles the level of inorganic sulfate. High levels of mineral causes a deficiency in another mineral.
What are some of the benefits of feeding them?
Most calves get scours or pneumonia within the first 30 days of life, but cows that are fed chelated minerals prior to calving are likely to have calves with less scour problems, sickness and death loss. Other benefits from feeding chelated minerals are reproductive performance, increased immune response, preventative and treatment of foot problems and better heard health. Feeding chelated minerals prevents your herd from experiencing mineral deficiencies, which saves you from wasting money on supplements you may do not need.
